Whitireia celebrates Graduation

Congratulations to over 300 students who will graduate from their programmes of study at a ceremony being held at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua City today (19 March 2015).

The ceremony starting at 1pm will see students from the Faculties of Arts, Health and Business take the stage and be awarded their qualifications; diploma, degree and postgraduate.

UPDATE: Due to rain the Graduation Procession that was to begin at Cobham Court in Porirua has been cancelled. Please assemble at Te Rauparaha Arena from 12.15pm

Around 1,700 graduands, invited guests and staff will take part in the celebration. Guests will be addressed by Don Campbell, Whitireia Chief Executive and Porirua Mayor, Nick Leggett while George Parata, Bachelor of Information Technology graduand, will speak on behalf of the students graduating.  Hon Roger Sowry, ONZM, Combined Council Chair will confer the awards.

Whitireia music and performing arts students will entertain guests throughout the ceremony. Awhimai Fraser will lead guests in the singing of the National Anthem.

Graduation ceremonies are a highlight for us said Don Campbell. “The ceremony will mark the beginnings of new pathways for every student graduating.  We are proud of our graduates; they leave us well-educated with first-class sought after qualifications.”

Students graduating will be from the fields of Business, Information Technology, Nursing, Paramedics, Social Work, Education, Arts and Communications.
